In December, 2014 we each spotted a familiar looking person at a Christmas party for young professionals. Thankfully for us, we were looking at each other. We’d met before, but hadn’t yet had a chance to get to know the other person.
After several hours of talking, we hatched a plan to go rock climbing the following week (which we now each insist was the other person’s idea). We quickly bonded over our shared love of outdoor activities, science, fresh food and good wine.
Our first year was filled with a whole bunch of new experiences together, from Red Rock Rendezvous for rock climbing to a 200 mile bike ride from Seattle to Portland. Having each been established in Seattle for a while, we also had great groups of friends to meet, combine, and get to know through camping trips, bike rides and bar-b-ques.
Our second year involved a bunch of big life decisions and firsts, like moving in together, our first two major trips together, Danielle’s first trip to the Gorge and Wyeth’s first (and possibly last) hot yoga class. We followed up a busy summer with buying a boat, as both of us have fond family memories on the water.
Just over 2 years after our first date, we got engaged! Which brings us to now. We’re so thankful for all of your friendship and support along the way, and we’re so excited for you all to come celebrate with us.
